FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

County Selects Cloud-Based Electronic Plan Review Solution to Automate Processes and Improve Transparency

IRVINE, Calif. and RESTON, Va.—August 11, 2021: e-PlanSoft™, a leading provider of electronic plan review solutions, and Carahsoft Technology Corp., The Trusted Government IT Solutions Provider®, today announced that Montgomery County, Ohio has awarded a contract to Carahsoft for the purchase of e-PlanREVIEW® for its Building Regulation Department.

The decision to augment its permitting and plan review process with cloud-based e-PlanREVIEW effectively expands the County’s digital operations to provide improved service to its constituents. It performs an average of 3500 to 4000 plan reviews annually, representing about 50% of the building permits issued.

“The transition to e-PlanREVIEW will make our plan review process much more efficient,” said Robert Martin, Building Regulations Manager and Chief Building Official for Montgomery County. “e-PlanREVIEW will make it possible for participants to access the project from anywhere and be assured that they are all seeing the same, most up-to-date files. We look forward to improved communications and the ability to easily track the status of our plan reviews, as well.”

The County currently performs plan reviews with traditional paper plan sets. Understanding the limitations of manual processes, it embarked on a search for a plan review solution that would allow role-based permissions and the ability to collaborate in real-time across departments. The solution also needed to offer tight integration with the Accela Civic Platform which has been selected as the successor to its current on-premise permitting system. This integration was especially important to the County, as project participants commonly span several departments for a given plan review and the Accela Civic Platform supports cross-departmental regulatory workflows.

“It’s gratifying to provide tools to Montgomery County that will have such a great impact on so many,” stated Scott Gartner, Channel Partner Manager at e-PlanSoft. “e-PlanREVIEW will automate the plan review process, which in turn will amplify productivity, reduce the time required for the full permitting and plan review cycle, and improve constituent satisfaction.”

The County currently uses Accela’s legacy on-premises Tidemark product for its permitting activities and performs plan reviews as a traditional paper process. It has committed to upgrading to the SaaS-based Accela Civic Platform and will integrate e-PlanREVIEW to achieve a full end-to-end permitting and plan review solution. Velosimo no-code connectors will be used for the seamless integration between SaaS-based products, e-PlanREVIEW, and the Accela Civic Platform. The integration will eliminate redundant data entry and result in extreme efficiency to improve productivity and reduce the turnaround time in the plan review process. When the integration is complete, the County will be able to move to a paperless process, a key component in saving time and money.

“Accela is thrilled to partner with e-PlanSoft and Carahsoft to deliver a cloud-based permitting solution that empowers Montgomery County to better serve its residents,” said Tom Nieto, Chief Operating Officer at Accela. “We take great pride in helping agencies utilize technology to make the permitting process easier and faster, while also helping their communities to thrive.”

“Velosimo is honored to help Montgomery County deliver a modern, connected digital experience to citizens and contractors during the electronic plan review process with our no-code, cloud-based integration for e-PlanReview and the Civic Platform in partnership with e-PlanSoft, Accela, and Carahsoft,” said Ken Sawtelle, Chief Revenue Officer at Velosimo. “Our predictable, self-healing, and foolproof off-the-shelf technology connector will also bring the County peace of mind, increased efficiencies, and lower costs.”

“We are thrilled to aid in the advancement of Montgomery County’s plan review processes through the acquisition of e-PlanSoft,” said Lacey Wean, Manager of the Accela and e-PlanSoft Solutions Team at Carahsoft. “e-PlanREVIEW gives the County the ability to simplify and modernize its communications, allowing for a more timely, cost-effective, and coordinated digital process that will scale future performance and improve efficiency. We are also excited to partner with Accela to support Montgomery County with its implementation services to streamline deployment.”
